DISCOURTEOUS TREATMENT
To the Editor “N.Z. Times.” Sir,—As one of a large number who attended mo recruiting gathering held in tins town to-uay, 1 would nko to protest strongly against the lack of. courtesy shown to ur Robert McNab, the wellknown and able statesman. Mr Massey, by general oidcr of procedure, was first speaker, and alter tho member for f ranklin had had his say' one and ail fully expected Dr McNab, as a visitor, to follow. To the great astonishment of (he majority Mr Puick was next announced. i happened to be with several friends of mine, and they freely stated that they considered (although Masseyites) that Dr McNab had been shown' a point. The squatters’ organ is always whining about dragging in pa-rty affairs at this critical juncture iu tho affairs of the Empire. As a true Imperialist, it appears to mo that anything that can belittle the Liberals iseagerly sought after by tho so-called “Reform” crowd. The only excuse I offer in penning this short message to you is io the effect that both local papers are tied to the “Reform” crowd, and needless to add they will not handle anything that touches the truth concerning “Reform.” —I am etc., . STANLEY WEIGHT. P.S-—Dr McNab attended at great inconvenience to himself. Palmerston North, May 12th.
