SUICIDE IN LOCK-UP
PRISONER STRANGLES HIMSELF. Frees Association. INVERCARGILL, May 12. A man named 1 George Cooper, between fifty and sixty years old, strangled himself in the lock-up at Bluff to-night. Deceased had been drinking, and at horn© became troublesome and threatened to commit suioide. He was locked up, and at 7 o’clock appeared to have settled down. 'When a constable went to visit him, however, he .was found to have strangled himself with a long strip of blanket. Deceased was married.
