ASSOCIATION GAME
MANAGEMENT. COMMITTEE ' MEETS. A meeting of the Wellington Football Association management committee was held last night. There were present:—Messrs A. E. Wells (chairman), J. B. Paton, W. Duncan, A. Williams, H. Yeoman, and A. Y arney. A letter was received stating that there were a number of players in the fifth division who were over age, and ft was asked that attention be given the ■ matter in the interests of the game. , Mr Varney said the question was a troublesome one, but he considered nothing could be done this season to improve matters. Intimation was received from the Nelson Association that_ it would bo pleased to receive a visit from a team, but its greatest difficulty was in providing a suitable ground.—The matter was left in the hands of Mr T. Thompson to arrange. The suggestion of the New Zealand Council that each association should contribute towards the purchase of an ammunition waggon for the expeditionary force came up for discussion, and it was considered that each centre should work independent of each other. On Mr Paton’s motion it was, decided to reply that the committee could not see its way clear at present to contribute towards the cost of the waggon. It was also .decided to point out that a benefit football match was being played. • Mr Paton moved: “That the proceeds from the benefit match be handed to the Mayor (Mr J. P. Duke) as the nucleus of a distress fund, that it may be found necessary to raise should the war continue.” —Canned. On aooouilt of the unsettled state of things, it was decided to abandon the representative team's southern tour , for this season.
