TRENTHAM TRACK NOTES

The heavy rain overnight made the tracks at Trentham very heavy and against fast times for the semi-final gallops on Saturday. Kac) made their appearance on the schooling grounds, lha trio set out on their journey at the top of the straight. The first-mentioned pair soon got a good break on Captain Jack and set a hot pace over seven fences. Me looks really well, and should soon repay his owner for hie patience. Grit Lawless, which claims engagement in the big steeplechase, looks very light in condition but nevertheless negotiated ten fences safely, though he dwelt at several of them. There was little between Try Fluke and Admiral Soult at the end of six furlongs which occupied Imm -usee. Sir Saracen and Silver Monarch were given three-quarter pace work. Julian (F Cress I. after cantering once round on the sand, jumped uve hurdles in company with Poval Arms iMcSwe.ney). The brother to Poyal Scotch is a. great fencer, and -wajs much }oo good

He did pot shape well at first, but improved as he went. on. Beacon was given half-pace work. Sportsman and Northern were companions in a spin over the tall timber. The latter is a really good fencer, but on -Saturday jumped very carefully. Old Paritiitu looks in great heart, but his display over five fences, was not a pleasing one. and lie was inclined ■ to dwell a good deal.
