Tho first hitch in the Mexican peace negotiations has occurred owing to the Constitutionalists’ request to bo included in the conference. The Constitutionalists point out that they expect to reach Mexico City within a week, that the Huertan regime is nearing its close,, and 1 that, therefore, it would he absurd for the conference to settle the question without taking cognisance of them and their conquests. , HUERTA READY TO WITHDRAW. ON CERTAIN AXJNDITIONS(Received June 3, 9.50 p.m.) NIAGARA FALLS, June 3. Tho Mexican delegates to the peace conference announced that President Huerta was ready to withdraw from the Presidency on condition that at the time of his withdrawal Mexico is politically pacified, and that tho succeeding Government is based on the consent of the governed and the., support of the public. The mfediators decided to ask General Carranza if ho was agreeable to an armistice in order to secure tho undelayed pacification of Mexico. The Constitutionalists, on learning of Huerta’s decision to resign, authorised a statement that anything coming from Huerta would not he considered.
