FOUND DEAD
i LABOURER DISCOVERED ON BRIDGE. Press Association. HASTINGS, June 1. A labourer named Andrew Tomb, aged about fifty-five years, a single man, was found dead on./ the Havelock bridge yesterday morning. Death was apparently duo to heart disease. So far as is known, the deceased had no relatives in the Dominion.
DEATH FROM ASPHYXIATION
HASTINGS, June 1
At the inquest on the body of Andrew Tomb, aged fifty-one, single, who was found dead on Havelock bridge on Sunday morning, the evidence showed that deceased had been drinking at the house of a friend at Havelock, and left to walk <• to Hastings. Ho apparently sat on the rail of the bridge, wont to sleep, and fell forward. When the body was found deceased was on his feet in a stooping position. His left hand was gripping the top rail, and the bead was banging between the knees. The coat of his collar was turned up and buttoned tightly. A verdict was returned that death was duo to asphyxiation whilst in a state of intoxication. Deceased was an old resident o! Hastings, and was in comfortable circumstances. . -
