Ball and Hamhro kept together alt the way. Ball was lup at the turn, but Hamhro squared at the fourteenth hole. Lockhart was 4 up at the turn and dormy 2, but Whitton won the last 3 holes, thus squaring the scores. Subsequently, after halving at, the nineteenth hole, ho lost the twentieth. Michael Scott went out in 3G, and turned 3 up. Hcrrcshoff being 4 down, .with 6 to play, won the next 4, hut hia japproach to the last hole was ton Strong, and Scott went down 4 to 5 and won. Apperley and Gillies had easy vio* jf>ries. ' To-morrow, Gillies meets Graham, Both are strong favourites. WHITTON EASILY DEFEATED. (Received ilav 21, 10.35 p.m.) LONDON, May 21. Whitton was easily defeated. Hif hitting was indifferent. He was ropratedly as well placed as Lockart, ■hut missed in the short putts.
