HEALTH CONFERENCE
“INFANCY AND HEALTH” PAPER BY SIR CHARLES MACKELLAR FEDERAL MATERNITY BENEFIT. 8/ Telegraph—-Press Association—-Copyntbi LONDON, May 20. At the Health Conference, a paper by Sir Charles Mackellar, M. 8., president of tho State Children Board of New South Wales, on the subject of “Infancy and Health,” analysed tho New South Wales conditions and the preventive measures, taken, to preserve child life, and also referred to the Federal maternity benefit, which would ultimately prove valuable in reducing mortality. 1 Sir Charles Mackellar commends the South Australian system for the supervision of illegitimate children. Dr Frodsham (late Anglican Bishop of Northern Queensland), in introducing the paper, paid a tribute to Sir Charles Maekellar’s work, and added that much beneficial legislation had been the outcome of his efforts. THE EDUCATION PROBLEM. (Received May 21. 10.10 p.m.) LONDON, May 21. At the Health Conference, Lord Chelmsford delivered an address on the Educational Problem. He advocated the extension in continuation schools of literary work in the morning and manual training in the afternoon.
Dr Truby King, of New Zealand, read a paper on “Infancy ond Health.”
