Messrs Henry Hawthorne and John Telford have boon nominated for tho vacancy on tho -Miramar Borough Council, and tho poll will tako place on Wednesday next between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tho booths are as follows:—The offices of the Council, King's Chambers (Wellington), tho Kiosk (Worser Bay), tho Terminus Store (Scatoun), tho Town Hall (Miramar). After the Kapnni had put hack yesterday through tho death of one of tho seamen, three members of the crew declined duty when ordered to got the vessel ready to proceed to sea again. .Sergeant O’llalloran and three constables, arrested them, and they will appear in. the Magistrate’s Court this morning, charged with disobeying the lawful commands of tho master. It was asserted by the men that the fumes of benzine were too strong in their quarters. Other members of the crew, together with the recalcitrant two, had a conference with Mr W. Ben* nett, the manager of the company, and they’ decided to work the vessel. The three, however, stuck out, and so were arrested.
