Mr diaries Mullen, president o 4 the New York-Nowhaven railway, who recently admitted that a very large sum of money was set aside to buy alterations to railway charters, put the amount down at £240,000. MB PIERPONT MORGAN’S TRANSACTIONS. (Received May 20, 11.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 20. The Inter-State Commerce Commission, which is investigating the affairs of the Now York, Newhaven, and Hartford Railway, learned that Mr Pierpont Morgan spent millions in acquiring subsidiary properties, and that other financial magnates associated with him looked on in - awe.
Mr Mcllen, ex-president of the railroad, declared that Mr Morgan treated him as a child. Ho was too awed to question anything Mr Morgan did. Mr Morgan consulted Mr Roosevelt about some purchases, and Mr Roosevelt warned Mr Morgan that he must keep inside the law, whatever else ho did.
