THEFT OF SHEEP
FARMER FINED £SO. Frees Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 20. Charles Richard Craythorno, convicted of the theft of two sheep, appeared for sentence in the Supreme Court. The Crown suggested that tho neighbours bad lost 400 sheep, and while the prisoner was farming at Motunau ■ sheep were missed. Mr Justice Denniston said he was not entitled to treat thevia-so as more than the theft of two sheep. He could not directly punish him for an offence of which he had not been convicted. Prisoner was fined £SO.
