ASSOCIATION GAME

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. ‘The management committee of tho Wellington Football Association met lastnight, when the following members attended:—Messrs A- E. Wells (chairman), \V. Duncan, A. Varney, A. 'Williams, 11. Yeoman and T. Thompson. The nen’ly-formcd. Tramway Club intimated that thoir Wednesday colours would be black and gold. The second referred to the encroachment of spectators on playing aeras. ‘'Your association ** wrote the Town Clerk, “will be required to take steps when matches are being played on the city reserves, and more particularly the Basin Reserve, to have the spectators kept absolutely off the playing area. Considerable damage to the ground has been occasioned during the winter months when the ground is more or less damp. It is considered that your referees and linesmen, it given instructions on this matter, will remedy this complaint/' It was further announced in tho letter that the reserves committee of the City Council hod decided that when any match is being played on any city reserve whore the public are charged tor admission, the association or union controlling such match is to have the elusive use of such, reserve. # The association charging for admission to provide those bodies prevented from playdncr their ordinary matches ‘with substitute grounds on the city reserves if possible. Such arrangements are to bo made between the association© conIt was resolved to write to the City Council pointing out that as the association has at present the eastern end of the Basin Reserve it is difficult . to keep th© spectators from encroaching. The offer of the British Empire Trading Company to print 20,000 programmes with th© fixtures for the present season was accepted. . It was resolved to write to Mr Green, of Petone, asking him to J*?ko steps to arrange a school competition in the Hutt Valley district. It was decided to grant the new '-round at Kilbixni© to th© South Wellington Club for their match with Newtown Congregational on June 3rd, The question of ©torting matches on time was introduced by Mr Yeoman, and it was stated that the matches wore getting later and later every Saturday, It was decided to write to the Referees’ Association, asking members to see that all matches are started punctually at 3 o’clock. , _ , Corinthians are to play Hospital on Juno 3rd on the Basin Reserve, the gam© to count as a league match which would nominally ho played later on in the season. St. David’s and Y.M.C.A. 111. are to play a curtain-raiser on the earn© date on th© Basin Reserve. Mr T. Thompson moved that a portion of rule 1 “after th© conclusion of league competitions.” be deleted. A special geheral meeting of clubs is to be called to consider this, which will have the effect of enabling cup matches to be okayed • before tho conclusion of the league matches.
