A GREY RUMOUR
To the Editor "N.Z. Times-
Sir,—There is a persistent rumour current in Grey that the lily-white "Reformers’' are contemplating the execution of some of thedr "square deal tactics” in this electorate. The move which is being accredited to them is one quite in keeping with those which have made the name of “Reform” a by-word for questionable and underhand work. The rumour is to the effect that tbe mining town of Blackball is to be taken out of tbe Grey electorate. Where they put it is quite immaterial, so they remove from Grey 400 electors who cast a block >ore for P. C. Webb, and consequently against the “Reform” party. If this is done and a few distriets_sare for “Refprm” included it gives our vv'est Coast chameleon H. L. Michel a very'fair chance of gratifying his ambition, viz., a euro seat in Parliament. My object in making this matter public is the hope (a faint one 1 must admit) that when the sham "Reformers” see their plan in cold print they may feel sufficiently ashamed of themsellv-ee and forego it. —I am, etc., ANTI-HUMBUG. -Greymouth, May 15th.
