SOLO WINS THE BRIGHTON HANDICAP. DERBY FALLS TO ADMIRAL WOOD. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 16. Tho weather was very cold and cheerless for tho second day of the New Brighton Trotting Club’s autumn meeting, but there was a very good attendance. The investments for the two days were £29,570, as compared with £27,850 last year. The following are the details of the racing:— LADLES’ BRACELET HANDICAP (harness) of 45 sova; one mile and a furlong:—2 Succeed, IGsec, 1; 11 Rose Dillon, 13sec, 2; 3 Pastime, 15sec, 3. Also started—-8 Red Mao scr, 7 Princess Louise 2sec, 4 Little Tib 2, 6 Brown Bell 4,2 Kalgoerlie 5, 9 Maelstrom 5, 1 Tommy T. 6. In the run home Bright came with a great dash and Solo just lasted long enough to wiu hy a length. Time, 4min 50 l-ssec.
STAYERS’ HANDICAP (optional), of 125 mts ; three miles.—s No Shenanaghan, 19seo, 1; 3 Huon Drift, scr., 2; 2 Captain Mac, 19sec, 3. Time, Bmin 4 l-ssec. NEW BRIGHTON DERBY STAKES, of 250 sovs (for three-year-olds); one mile and a half. —1 Admiral Wood 1, 3 Evelyn 2,2 Edith A. 3. Also started—6 F. E. Bells, 7 Little Kauri, 4 Harold D., 5 Texas. Admiral Wood was going along well in front when the straight was reached and won with the greatest of ease hy ten lengths from Evelyn, who was twelve lengths in front of Edith A. The first quarter was run in 35 2-ssec, half mile in Imin 11 2-ssec, one mile in 2min 24 l-ssec, and the full distance in 3min 37 2-ssec.
