BOXING
JEANNETTE DEFEATS BELL. Telegraph—Press Association—-Copyrigb LONDON, May 4. lu a boxing bout, “Joe” Jeaimetto defeated Colin Bell, the Australian, on points. The decision was received with booing. Bell showed to considerable advantage in the early rounds, and was aggressor to the eighth. Jeannette then, threw off caution, and forced the fighting. The exchanges in the ninth round were fast and fairly even. Jeannette, in the -eleventh, got right and left to the head, ; with telling effect. ■
Jeannette landed hard in the thirteenth round, and later repeatedly hooked Bell to the body. The Australian’s speed remained undiminished. He did most of the leading, but had the worst of matters in the clinches. The two concluding rounds were fast and furious, Jeannette having somewhat the best of the exchanges.
