BOWLING
STANSELL SHIELD. The final match for the Stansell Shield was played on the Lyall Bay green on Saturday between Seatoun and Lyall Bay with the following result: —Lyall Bay (Chritchley, Ward, Fairway, Stansell), 27; Seatoun (Vance, Beeston, Lauchland, Green), 8. The Lyall Bay Club having won two matches is the holder of the shield until next season.
VICTORIA CLUB. The follow’ing rinks will play a friendly game against ThorndOn Club at the Victoria green to-morrow: Tucker, Hatch, nangdon, Townsend (s); Bolton, Castle,, Martin, Sneddon (s); Tattle, Madelcy, Godber, Hemmingway (s). The rinks to play against the Hutt Club on next Saturday are :—At home —Besant, Avery, Ingram, Hueston (s); Redmond, Jackson, Longmore, Redstone (s). Away—Kellow, H. C. North, Vosseler, Norwood (s); Campbell Dement, S. L. Partridge, Fossette_ (s).. TE HIWI v. OTAKI. Tho return match between the above clubs was played at Otaki on Saturday. Through unforeseen circumstances tho visitors arrived with only one rink. The weather conditions were not too favourable, a drizzly rain in the afternoon spoiling play. Following are the scores:—Pirani, Wiggins, Shallcrass, and Parata (s), 20, v. A. Bright, H. Bright, A. Sathcrley, and Ferguson (s), 15. In the second, game Otaki won by 26 to 21, bringing the total to 41 points each. Being a tie an extra head was played, the visitors securing three shots.
Some interesting games were’ played for the ladies’ sealed handicap singles, for a trophy presented by Messrs Veitch and Allan, of Wellington. Mrs McKegg defeated Mrs Hodge, 22—11, after playing a very fine game, drawing some beautiful shots. Mrs Cook and Mrs McKegg played a'fine game, the former securing the verdict by 3 points, 20 —17. Mrs Hodge beat Mrs Dann, 24—10.
