PACIFIC DEFENCE
CANADA’S ATTITUDE JOINT UNDERSTANDING FAVOURED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received March 16, 10.30 p.tn.) LONDON, March 16. Advices from Toronto indicate that the most influential members of the Cabinet favour a joint understanding with Australia, New Zealand and tho Motherland for the defence of Imperial interests in tho Pacific, but until Mr Borden (the Premier) is able to control both Houses, he considers it inexpedient to join any Imperial conference in that direction. There is no immediate likelihood of an agreement, or of the naval proposal’s acceptance, by Mr Borden and Sir Wilfrid Laurier’s followers conjointly.
