AMATEUR ATHLETICS
MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.
A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last evening, there being present: —Messrs A. Davies (presiding), O. E. Bridge, J. H. Pollock, E, L, Chaffoy, J. C, Cusack, B. A. Guise. A. A. Marryatt, and W. G, Talbot (hon. secretary). ■ . The Canterbury Centre having failed to appoint a delegate within the requisite time, it was decided to communicate with that centre, and if a delegate has not been nominated before next meeting, Mr M. E. Burnett will bo appointed to the position. The City Council notified that all athletic bodies would he required to give notice by October Ist in each year of the season’s engagements on the Basin Reserve to which admission is allowed to be charged. “Impossible,” was the comment from more than one member. The letter was “holdover. Intimation ‘ was received from the Auckland Centre that it had resolved to suspend Mr J. J, Mulvihill, late secretary of the centre, pending a definite settlement of a certain, dispute. The suspension was endorsed. FORTHCOMING MEETINGS.
A request was received from the Auckland Centre for the holding of their return meeting to the American athletes on March 14th, the centre offering the association one-third of the net profits.—The application was granted, subject to the approval of the manager of the American team. The New Zealand University tourna*ment committee applied for permission to hold its annual championship meeting at Christchurch on April 13th.— The request was granted, subject to the consent of the local centre. The council granted permission for the bolding of the South Island championships in connection with the Southland championships on February 26th, REINSTATEMENTS. Reinstatement was granted to Edwin Silby, Albert Norman, and Arthur Mo Neish, An application for reinstatement of Robert T. Kirk was held over till January, 1915, ' The council agreed to the proposed alteration of the name of the Amateur Athletic Union of Australasia to the "Amateur Athletic . Union of Australia and New Zealand."
