VESSELS WITHDRAWN

The decision of the Nord Deutsche r Lloyd line to withdraw all their sailing ships from the Australian sendee synchronises with the withdrawal of the vessels of the Messageries-Mari times. From the beginning of August the vessels of the latter company, after leaving Colombo, will call at Singapore, Batavia, Java, New Hebrides, New Caledonia, Brisbane, and Sydney. It is expected that the present steamers will be transferred to other routes, and be replaced by smaller and slower steamers now engaged in the India, China, and Japan services. TWELVE-KNOT STEAMERS. (Received February 11, 11.20 -p.m.) LONDON, February 11. The Messageries Maritimes new service to Australia provides for monthly steamers of twelve-knots. The passenger accommodation will be strictly limited. The Messageries Maritimes are not prepared to maintain fifteen-knot vessels on the present subsidy.
