At the final sitting of the .Labour Conference, speaking on the Fair Rents Bill, Mr Fitzgerald said it was a clumsy device at best, although a necessary one. The committee submitted a report that a bill similar to the measure previously submitted be introduced as a first measure in . Parliament this year. The report was adopted by an overwhelming majority. The committee appointed to investigate the charges against Mr Griffiths (Minister for Public Works) submitted its report, and by 81 votes to 3 the conference impeached Mr Griffiths on a charge of having failed to pay the rates provided by Federal award governing builders’ labourers. It was decided to make representations to the Premier for the immediate payment of award rates. .... A motion was carried by /A to ill for the compulsory notification of venereal diseases, the provision of dispensaries. systematic periodic examination, and free distribution of certain remedies by the hospitals.
