AUCKLAND SLAUGHTERMEN

AN AGREEMENT MADE. Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 10. At the Conciliation Commissioner’s rooms this morning half a dozen assessors made an amicable agreement for the regulation of tho working conditions of slaughtermen. Tho question of wages was settled, increases of 2s 6d per hundred being granted for freezing sheep and lambs, and of 2s per hundred for “ potter” lambs. The former rate now rules at £1 7s 6d per hundred. There was no dispute as to working hours or overtime (the latter being assessed at time and a quarter), the propssals and counter-proposals being identical in this respect. The hours of work will bo between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. (eight hours a day), with a Saturday half-holiday from midday. Other slaughtering than that at tho specified rate per hundred will bo paid for per head. A preference clause was agreed upon, and it was further agreed that air disputes should be referred to a conference of three delegates from each side.
