AN IMPUDENT FRAUD MAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. ar Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Received February 9, 10.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 9. Edwin Liddlo has been committed foi trial on charges of obtaining postal notes, valued at 2s (!d each, from three women, by moans of false pretences. Liddlo, who was advertising largely as the Ceylon Silk Company, offered ten yards of silk at 2s 6d. Tho complainants sent orders, but failed to receive the silk.
Detectives gave evidence that they had seized over £2OO in money and many postal notes from all States at tho accused’s residence. A postal official stated that 18,542 letters wore awaiting delivery to tho Ceylon Silk Company.
