CARNIVAL AT TRENTHAM

Tho programme of the carnival to be held at TTentham racecourse on Boxing Bay is of a most interesting and varied character. Tho jumping and riding competitions, which are tho chief feature of the programme, have attracted very largo entries, and visitors to tho carnival aro assured of witnessing a splendid diaploy of jumping. Among the horses engaged aro such well-known performers as Klwell, Gondolier. Grit Lawless, Corn Cob, Scamp, Silver Monarch, Sir Mauser. Mischief, Papa. Most of tho best known hunters of the Hutt Valley are competing, and visiting horses aro expected from Levin and the Wairarapr. The numerous floral and costume events will bo of a spectacular and entertaining nature, and the charming .sotting chorded by the beautiful Trentham racecourse will add to tho pleasure. Tho children will be catered for by tho usual stalls, fairy well, Christmas tree, and Punch and Judy show. Luncheon and afternoon tea will be obtainable on tho ground. An excellent train service 13 advertised. Mr Wilford is patron of the undertaking. Rev. Father Daly president, and Major Samuel vice-president Tho funds derived from the carnival are to bo devoted to the building of a new Presbytery at Upper llutt.
