MOVE BACK TO WORK
EX-STRIKERS EAGER TO RESUME THEIR DUTIES. MORE MEN THAN JOBS. Yesterday the back-to-work movement readied its clirnak in Wellington, and it was clearly demonstrated to many of the ex-strikers—watersiders as well as seamen—that there arc many less jobs waiting to bo filled than there arc men anxious to resume their duties. The Government Shipping Office was well patronised throughout tho day, when regular crews were signed on the Wahino,' Huia. Queen of tho South, Patcona, and Moa, .and scratch crews were signed off, A few members of tho scratch crews have joined tho Seamen’s Union, and an> now regular hands. Tho Corinna and Pukaki will sign on new crews to-day. At present the supply of seamen is still iii excess of tho demand. Some officers and engineers went away by ■the Wnhine last night to join vessels ■that have been laid np in the south Tho crews will he engaged at southern ports, where tbero aro plenty of men available
