CHARGES OF THEFT

AUCKLAND, December 22,

John Hobbs, aged twenty-three, and George Howies, twenty-three, who wore sentenced last week for damaging launches at Onehuuga while endeavouring to take a clandestine trip to Australia, were charged to-day with stealing, at ’Wellington, on August 14th, a suit-case containing two watches, a chain, five gold pins, and other articles of a. total value of £SO 7s, the property of Frederick Walter Hewlett, a waiter at the Grand Hotel, Wellington. They were remanded to appear at Wellington on Monday next.
