Miss P. Putler and Miss R. AVolfe left on a holiday visit to Melbourne by 'thu Victoria yesterday. The committee of the Society for Itho Protection of Women and Children desire to thank the trustees for the T. G. Macarthy estate for their kind donation of £SO for the general work of the society. Dr and Mrs Walker, of Blenheim, have been visiting llanmer. Mr and Airs A. G. Rhodes and Aliss Gallagher, of Grcytown, are in town, staying at tho Windsor. Air and Airs Tiffen, of Napier, and Air and Airs Luttrell, of Christchurch, arc staying at the Windsor. Aliss Alcßean is on a visit to Wellington. Dr and Airs Fitchctt leave to-day for Eawliia and Auckland, whore they will spend Christmas and New Year. The Christmas carol service will take place to-morrow at the Y.W.C.A. club rooms, after which an invitation teal will bo given to tho girls by the members of the board of directors. Tho bright service will be opened at 4.15 by tho Lyric Club singing carols, and tho 1 Rev. K. R. Harris will give a Christmas message before tho tea and social hour. Airs Weber, who has been staying here for some days, returns to Napier this morning. At the annual “ break-up ” of tho Wellington School of Shorthand yesterday, Aliss L. Macdonald (the principal) was tho recipient of a handsome ruseia leather handbag from tho day pupils. In making the presentation, Mr R. AVithell (a pupil) referred to the many excellent qualities of the principal, both as tutor and friend. Miss Macdonald suitably responded, and amidst many good wishes a pleasant little function was concluded. WANGANUI WEDDING. A wedding of considerable interest itook place at St, John’s Anglican ;Church on December 17th, when Miss Florence Ellen Cannon, eldest daughter of Mr and Airs T. Cannon, Wanganui, was married to Air Albert Arthur Leo, of Warwick, Australia. The bride was given awiay by her father, and wore a lovely bridal robe of cream sills eolienuo, tho lace-draped bodice being finished with a cluster of orange blossoms, and these “bride’s flowers ” also formed the pretty wreath under tho long veil. A shower bouquet of white roses and carnations was carried. In attendance were three sisters—the Misses Ivy, Beatrice, and Alefm Cannon, who were frocked alike in spotted Swiss muslin, with lace and insertion, and finished with picturesque sashes. Their hats were prettily wreathed with flowers, and they each carried a bonquet of white pink and heliotrope flowers, the gifts of the bridegroom, who also presented to the chief bridesmaid a gold watch, and to tho two little ones gold brooches. Tho bride"groom was attended by Air Austin Dayman, of Christchurch, as best man. Tho ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. Reeve, and afterwards a great many guests were entertained at “Dustin’s.” Several toasts were responded to with enthusiasm, the proposers being the Rev. Reeve, Messrs Cannon, Dunkley, and Northover, and responded to by the bridegroom, Alessrs Hayman and Holland. Mrs Cannon, mother of the bride, wore a black and white striped silk costume, with black feather boa and toque to match; Aliss Cannon, sister of the bride, a'pretty grey costume and tagel hat. Presents and congratulations were received from all parts of tho Dominion. Air and Airs Lee left later in tho day, en route for Hokitika, where they will reside. \
