A deputation from the Napier Harbour Board, comprising Messrs A. E. Jull (chairman), C. Allison, F. W. Williams, T. Clarke (members), and JB. Kenny (secretary) yesterday waited on the Hon. W. Fraser, Minister for Public Works, and the Enginoor-in-chief (Mr R. W. Holmes) in reference to the apportionment of the cost of the work necessary in connection with the building of the railway embankment across the _ inner harbour at Napier. The Minister made a proposal which will be considered by the board, in addition to which the Hawke’s Bay County Council will be rep inn-d to enter into negotiations for its share of the cost of the erection of the necessary bridge. When these negotiations are completed an early start may he expected to be made in this work.
