A DREADFUL DEATH
FALL OF 900 FEET MOUNTAINEER SHOCKINGLY MUTILATED. By Telegraph—Frees Association— Copyright (Received September 15, 11.35 p.m.) VIENNA, September 15. Count Maurice Lilienthal and a young lady, both experienced mountaineers, essayed the dangerous ascent of Rax mountain, in Semmering. On nearing the top Count Lilienthal was seized with cramp in the .arms. Ho begged tho girl to massage his arms, despite the fact that he was clinging to an almost perpendicular rock.
She did so, but the operation was unsuccessful. Count Lilienthal suddenly fell a distance of 900 foot, and was shockingly mutilated. His terrified companion, with great difficulty, completed the ascent, and procured assistance. There were 140 climbers of tho Semmering Alps in 1912.
