Mr G. Greig. formerly principal lightkeeper at Stephen Island and Cape Campbell, and lately of Tho Brothers lighthouse, has been, appointed principal keeper at Jack's Point, throo miles from Tim aru. The Union Company's Vancouver liner Niagara, 13,500 tons, went into the-Wool-wich dock at Sydney last week. This is the first time that vessel has been docked and eho ia easily tho largest vessel ever docked in Australia. Tho Union Company advises that tho Navua will leave Auckland on the 30th inst. for the Cook Islands, Society Islands, and Tahiti, in place of tho Talune. The latter vessel will take tho Navua's running in the Auckland-Fiji service. The Alexander is due at Wellington on Saturday from Tarakohe, and will sail o.u tho same day for Nelson and West €t>ast. Thts Jioana, duo at Wellington at 9 o'clock this morning from San Francisco, is to berth at No. b', Quean's wharf. She is to sail to-morrow afternoon for Sydney. Hatrick and Co. advise that the small steamer Tainui was to have left Waitara last night for Wellington. The Marama left Vancouver at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the 9th inst., for Auckland and Sydney via Honolulu and Suva. She has 65 first. 60 6eoond, and 50 third class passengers for all porta, and 790 tons of cargo for New Heuland. The Marama is due at'Auckland on the 23th instant. ' ULIMAROA FROM SYDNEY. About 6.30 o'clock yesterday morning the Huddart Parker liner Ulimaroa arrived in the stream at Wellington from Sydney direct. The Port Health Officer re-vaccinated 6ix passengers and ' two members of the crew who required a second treatment, and the ve6sei berthed about 8.30 a.m. at No. 1, north (outer tee), Queen's wharf. The Ulimaroa brought about 750 tons of general .cargo, including 1000 eases of fruit, of which oranges and mandarins comprised the largest proportion. The Ulimaroa left Sydney at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and had smooth seas and fine sunny weather till arrival. The vessel is to sail at 5 p.m. to-day for southern ports, Hobart ; and Alelbourne.

HUDDART PARKER BOATS. NEW ARRANGEMENTS. Huddart -Parkerf, Limited, announce that according to present arrangements tho Riverina. will leave Sydney for Auckland on Aog-ust 13tb, in place of the VVitnmera. and will continue running in the New Zealand trade. She. will run on the coast as far as Dunedin, but may probably turn round in Auckland during the press of the summer season, in which case the Victoria would be a connecting boat on, the coast. The company also intend to place a boat on the New Zealand coast in addition to the present services from Sydney via Auckland to LHmedin, and from Sydney via Wellington to .KSluff. Hobart and Melbourne. The boat for the coast will probably be the Westralia, to commence running in about two months' time on the east coast of New Zealand. RTJATTTNE AT HOBART. The New Zealand Shipping Company's eteamer Ruahine arrived at Hobart at 8 a.m. yesterday from London and Plymouth via Capetown. The vessel ia expected to arrive at Wellington on Monday afternoon.
