MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD. The Wellington Education Board met yesterday. Present: Messrs R. Lee (chairman), A. W. Hogg, J. Kebbell, H. Freeman, T. Moss, J. G, W. Aitken, W. Allan, and W. H. Field. A resolution from the New Zealand Catholic Federation, in reference to the decision of the hoard regarding tho holding of State scholarships at St. Patrick’s College, was “received.” The department notified a grant of £375 for additions to Upper Hutt school. The matter was referred to the clerk of works, and if the money is insufficient for the purpose, application is to be made to the department for more. The following recommendations ot the works committee were approved: Grants authorised—Taueru, repairs, roof, etc. (shed); fsiiu-1 ley, ventilation of class room; Greytown, new gutters; Mitchelltown, relaying of drains; Korokoro, porch extension; Porlrna, residence, fencing, range, repairs, etc.; Porirua schol, fencing, paths formation and various repairs; To Aro, main school, wire screens, repairs, etc; Kaiparoro, pipes for water service. Cross Creek—That the foreman visit and report regarding condition of residence. Upper Hutt—That high pressure water service be installed when the service is available, and that in the meantime the committee .be asked to make the tanks serve requirements. Sites—Levin: Thau the tenant who made application be granted an extension of time for payment to the firse week in March. South Wellington; That application for payment of land tax be declined. Kaiwarra—Conditions of work: That the question be referred to the board’s solicitors. Training College—That the clerk of works make necessary arrangements for additional conveniences owing to increase in number of students. Library subsidies—That subsidy, up to 9d per head, be approved on the following amounts, subject to compliance with the conditions of the Education Department: Reikiorangi, £2; Fernridge, £5 0s Id; Ohariu, £1 12s 3d; Hastwell, £3. Travelling allowances of instructors in agriculture—That refund, £l9 16s 4d, be authorised. Petone Technical School—That application for additional allowance for cleaning be declined.
