Herbert Gregory Bally was charged with having fraudulently failed to hand over to the iNeu* Zealand Uunes” Company the sum of £-9> myoli he had received from the British Empire Trading Company. Accused, who had been an employee ot the ■■. New Zealand Times” Company, was remanded until -March oth, in order tnat inquiries may be made. Bail was allowed in the sum of £3O, two sureties of £4O, or one of £BO. William Murphy was sentenced to Nine mouth’s imprisonment on a charge of deserting from the Turakina. Chief-Detective Broberg stated that Murphy had joined the ivoonya, on which he received higher wages than on the Home-going vessel. Jack Linkiater was fined 10s for drunkenness. CIVIL MATTERS. (Before Dr A. McArthur, S.M.) CLAIM AGAINST SETTLER. A claim for £7 was made by Charles R. Rarata, estate agent, Wellington, against H. iVi. Hailes, settler, Jxafk,,ura, for work done as a native agent in obtaining confirmation of a lease in !tno Native Land Court. After hearing evidence, his Worship gave judgment for plaintiff for the amount ciaimed, with costs, £2 Is. Mr O. Beere appeared for plaintiff, and Mr T. N. Holmden for the defendant. DENTISTRY AVORK. J. G. AAh Dalrymple, accountant, iWellington, was proceeded against by the VVelliugton Traders’ Agency, assignees of Arthur Hoby and Son, for' tue sum of £l3 17s 6d for dentistry vork done for his daughter. Air H. E. Anderson appeared for the plaintiff, and Air A. Fair for the defendant. Alter being partially heard the case was adjourned until to-morrow. SURVEYORS AND SYNDICATE. Seaton and Sladden, surveyors and ;civil engineers, AVellington, sued the. jifiaranui Laud Syndicate for £55 195,. Ibaiauc© of professional charges. Heieudants counter-claimed for £lOl 2s 3d, alleging that an error had been made in the levels of a plan of a road drawn by plaintiffs, thereby rendering certain alterations to the road necessary. Mr A. W. Blair appeared for the plaintiffs and Air T. loung for the defendants. Defendants admitted the claim, and his Worship heard evidence on the counter-claim. Ellen Hand sued George Barkley Huxford and Olive Ellen Huxford for possession of certain premises, and claimed £1 12s as rent due. His Worship gave judgment for the money claimed, and ordered that plaintiff should be given possession.
