TEN YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT
MAN’S BRUTAL ATTACKS ON HIS WIFE. Press Association. NELSON, February 24. The Supreme Court sessions opened to-day before Mr Justice Chapman. There were two criminal cases for trial. Robert Alfred Schwass, charged with (1) attempting to murder his wife by cutting her throat, (2) wounding and doing grievous bodily harm, and (3) assaulting her so as to cause grievous bodily harm, was found guilty on the second and third counts. In sentencing tho prisoner to ten years’ imprisonment the judge said he had seldom known of more barbarous and cruel offences.
