Amongst the many valuable trophies offered by the Feilding A., and P. Association is a cup valued at ten guineas for the champion Yorkshire boar. Other prizes bring the total for pigs up to .£3O, therefore good 01. tries should result. Homo industries, dedry produce, vegetables and fruit are well catered for in prize money, and intending exhibitors should apply to the socretary for a schedule tor the show, which takes place on February 4th and sth. Entries close to-morrow tor the show classes, and for the ram fair on the 21st inst.

On February Glh and 7th, tho two days following the Feilding Show, the West Coast Ham Fair, conducted by the Manawatu Auctioneers’ Association, will be held on the Feilding racecourse. Entries close on January list. Sheep breeders Should note that this is the only ram fair on this coast where they will have an opportunity of offering their rams at auction, tho Auctioneers’ Association having decided to hold only one fair each year. This arrangement will be much moro convenient for both breeders and purchasers alike than the system previously obtaining. Tho ideal farmer hi admitted to be tho man who combines theory and practice, who can make one the handmaid of the other, and who is capable of utilising his scientific knowledge in the application of everyday problems on the farm. There can bo little doubt that farmers of this class are regrettably few in number, although every year the schools and colleges are turning out additional numbers.
