APPEAL AGAINST DISMISSAL

UPHELD BY TJUMWAY BOARD. Press Association. DUNEDIN, January 14. The hearing of the appeal by George Lamborn, a gripman, against his dismissal from the service of the Dunedin and Kaikorai Tramway Company was concluded this afternoon. The magistrate (Mr Widdowsou), in giving his decision on behalf of the board said the preliminary point was raised by Mr Stephens that the appeal did not lie, as a week’s notice had been given. The board held that section 6 of the Tramways Amendment Act, 1910, gave the right of appeal in all cases. It came to the conclusion that the appellant’s dismissal from the service of the company for the reasons given was too severe, and that it should bo set aside. The determination of the board was: First, that appellants dismissal being too sever© it ho set aside; that in lieu thereof appellant b© suspended for two months from -Novembor 27th, 1912; and that appellant be reinstated in the service of the company as spare gripman on January 27th,
