WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association met at the Occidental Hotel last evening. Mr M. Luckie presided. It was reported by Mr Hood that the total takings at the South Melbourne match were £ll7, and that the association would make £lO profit. The chairman, however, remarked that he could not see how the association could make that profit. He thought there would be a loss, considering the expenses. Mr Hood said that all the accounts had not been received yet- He was only informed that there would be a profit. i‘he Canterbury Association wrote stating that it had agreed to play a return match with the South Melbourne team on January 17tb. 18th, and 20tb, the dates originally oflered to Wellington. It hoped, however, that the Wellington Association would he able to play a match some time in'February. The chairman said the question of a match with Canterbury would be considered later. The Petone Club asked to have J. McKenzie and A. Bennett transferred from the first grade to the third grade. THE PROPOSED TOOK OP NEW ZEALAND, WHY TEE COUNCIL DROPPED NEGOTIATIONS. The New Zealand Cricket Council informed the Wellington Cricket Association at its meeting last evening that the proposed tour of the New South Wales team had been abandoned, owing to the increased demands made for tips and personal expensesThe chairman (Mr M. Luckie) said he thought the council had done the right thing, and he would like the association to acknowledge the letter and state that it fully endorsed the action of the council.

REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURES. HOME AND HOME MATCHES WITH CANTERBURY. The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association last evening considered a suggestion by Mr Midlane that the Canterbury Association be asked if it were agreeable to play home and home matches annually with Wellington. The chairman suggested that this should bo left over till next meeting. Mr Crombie thought the proposal could do no harm. Tho Wellington Association had offered to play Canterbury at Christchurch about February 15tb, and he suggested that Canterbury should be asked for a return match about March 14th, 15th, and X7th, the visiting teams to receive a percentage of tho “gate" as stipulated iu the Plunket Shield rules. The chairman suggested the date of the return, match should be March 15th, 17th, and 18th. The suggestion was agreed to. and it was decided to write accordingly. The Hawke’s Bay and Wanganui Associations wrote asking for matches, the former to bo played at Napier, and • the latter at Wellington on March Bth and 10th. These were left over for future consideration.
