AUSTRALIA’S GRAND TRUNK
CONTRACTS FOR SUPPLY OF RAILS.
■MELBOURNE, October 28.
Tho Federal Government has concluded contracts with English, American, and Australian companies Jcspoo tivoly to supply a total of 40,000 tons of rails for the transcontinental railway (Port Augusta to Kalgoorlie). (Received October 28, 9.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 28. Messrs Hoskins, of the Lithgow iron works, will supply 10,000 tons of rails for tho transcontinental railway at £8 15s per ton. Two firms belonging to the American Steel Trust will supply 18,000 tons each at £8 10s. An English tender was not accepted.
