INTERESTING EXTRACTS.
LONDON, October 27
Tho newspaper " Observer ” publishes interesting extracts from the diary of tho lato Li Hung Chang, including mention of his visit to Europe in 1896. There arc also references to General Gordon and tho Taiping rebellion in 1863, which go to show Li Hung Chang’s jealousies. He oven suggests that Gordon took a personal part in tho treacherous killing of tho AVang prisoners at Sooohow.
