FEDERAL BUDGET.

INTER-STATE COMMISSION TO BE REAPPOINTED. MELBOURNE, August 2. In the course of his. Budget statement yesterday Mr Fisher announced that a Bill would be introduced granting old age pensions to those at. present disqualified by their ownrabip of a house. He foreshadowed the reappointment <if the Inter-State Commission, and was hopeful that General Botha would before long visit Australia. The Canadian Minister of Trade was also coming to discuss the reciprocity question. Mr Deakm, leader of the Opposition, congratulated - Mr Fisher on his speech, and expressed satisfaction at the appointment of the Inter-State Commission.

The House to-day passed a Supply Bill covering two months. Provision is made in the Budget for the establishment of six new stations in Papua, and actual Federal control is to be extended over the whole British Now Guinea territory.
