BUSH FIRES RAGING
COUNTRY DISTRICTS PARCHED ON , WEST COAST. *?aESS ASSOCIATION. GREYMOUTH, July 29. Tho bad weather reported from most places of tho country lias been conspicuous by its absence from the West Coast. Dry, easterly winds havo been !the rale for some weeks, and the usual spectacle of water in parts of the streets bos not been the case during the past •week. Tho ground and bush is dried up and settlers have taken the opportunity of an early brn. Yesterday there was abundance of evidence of clearing operations by fire.
Easterly winds and fine weather for the last twenty days have parched the country. Bush fire® aro raging in all directions.
The Inchbonnie sawmill, the property of the Westland Timber Company, was burned to the ground yesterday, toother with a blacksmith's shop, two cottages, %nd 200,000 ft of timber. A house was also burned at Jacksons.
