PEOM OTO OWN COEEESPONDENT. ■ July 29. Last Wednesday was announced as the date on which the Government expert would give a demonstration in spraying and pruning in Mr Murdoch’s orchard. The weather turned out very wet in consequence of -which the demonstration was postponed. The date now fixed is Wednesday, August 7th next, at 3 p.m. Methodist Church has added singing and recitation competitions to its annual effort which will take place on August 16th. Mesdames Gibson and Carter are training the children in connection with the affair.

A local company Will open a picture show on Wednesday night. It is intend-i ed to give an entertainment once a week. Gardening has not been commenced yet, the ground being far too wet to work with. On Saturday the Levin football seniors played the Shannon, seniors on the local ground. Levin won by 19 points to Shan-i non nil. The local team was composed mostly of juniors.
