RAILWAY MANAGEMENT
OBJECTIONS TO EXPERT BEING IMPORTED. FBZSS ASSOCIATION. PAEMERSTON, July 29. The Palmerston North branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants resolved unanimously: '“That this branch strongly suports the « action of the Addington branch in protesting against the announced intention of the Government to import an expert to manage the New Zealand railways, after the retirement of the present general manager, instead of promoting an officer from the service, who would be thoroughly familiar with New Zealand ■conditions and equally capable as a railway man; and especially in view of the fact that it has frequently been stated by those in authority that every facility is offered to every member of the service to rise from the lowest to the highest position in it."
