LEAGUE FOOTBALL

DISCUSSED BY CANTERBURY RUGBY UNION. PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH. July 25. The Canterbury Rugby Union Committee last night discussed at considerable length the question of the prospect of the League game getting a footing in Christchurch. Ur 8. P. Wilson, who raised the question,. suggested that in view of the pronounced popularity of tho Northern Union game elsewhere tho local union might see fit to sink traditions and sentiment, and take control of ■ the new game. It was eventually decided to circularise tho clubs, inviting them to discuss the position created by the invasion of Canterbury by the Northern Union game; also to convene a special meeting of representatives of clubs for the same purpose.
