FEDERAL PROVISIONS AGAINST
FRAUD
MELBOURNE, July 23. The regulations of the Commonwealth Bank Savings Department, as approved by the Governor-in-Council, repudiate responsibility for fraudulent withdrawals, despite the fact that the Senate dealt withthis clause of the Bill and Mr Fisher withdrew his motion in the House disagreeing with the Senate’s amendment.

SYDNEY, July 23,
From August Ist the State Savings Bank will raise the rate of interest to 3} per cent, on deposits up to £3OO. In excess of that amount up to £SOO the rate will be 3 per cent., _ and on friendly societies and other similar institutions’ accounts 3J per cent, will be paid up to £SOO.
