Measures promised in the Governor s speech include the reintroduction of the Members' Salary Increase and Parliamentary Privileges Bills. Other measures deal with closer settlement, the housing problem, and amendment of the early closing and arbitration Acts. Other Bills foreshadowed cover education reform, more effective regular tion of Sunday trading, and the construction of railways, particularly lines that will open up wheat areas. The Assembly debate on the Address* in-Reply was adjourned. Mr Wade, leader of the Opposition, was absent owing to ill-health. The Legislative Council adopted the Address-in-Reply.
