“W.H.”.—(l) According to North Island rules, the winning band of a B grade contest must enter the A grade next time it compotes. (2) Lyttelton Marino Band won at Tlniaru, Ashburton and at Christchurch exhibition. The two former were not graded, but the lastnamed had the two grades! the Lyttelton band winning the second-class competition.
Charles Foster. —Your letter is mainly an objection to the council going into committee to consider preliminaries. The council has rightly taken this course, and a protest 'is no longer worth while.
