RIFLE-SHOOTING
WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. A. meeting of the executive committee of the Wellington Hide Association was held at tho Drill Hall last night. President Marshall (Karori) in the chair. The business was to discuss a proposal by the chairman to hold a picture show in the Town Hall to raise funds. In outlining his scheme, ho mentioned that the association last year had given tho best prize-list and programme yet put on lor a Wellington meeting. As it was the function of a rifle association to encourage rifle-shooting as far as possible, lie hoped that this year the association would place several matches cn the programme for cadets. Hayward’s Picture Enterprises. Ltd., had generously offered to supply a programme of films free of charqg.-. Mr J. Turner seconded tho proposal which was unanimously carried, and it was decided to hold tho entertainment on August 23th. A strong subcommittee to carry out the project was set up, consisting of the president, Rifleman H O. Brown (secretary), Lieutenant ,0. Gasquoine (assistant secretary). President Hobbs. Karori (treasurer). Major Matheson, Lieutenants Hugo and Nicholson (senior cadets). Major Beere, Lieutenants Bolton, Wilkinson, Millar, and XCenny (sth Regiment), Presidents Burrldge (Petone), GalUchan (Suburbs), Macdonald (Highland. Deputy-President Judd (Karon), MoLachlan (Petone), Newton (Suburbs), Shannon (Highland), Secretaries Oroxton (Karori). Ayson (Petone), Fellingham (Suburbs). Wilkie (Unper Hutt), Pitt \Highland), and KlQcman Turner (Suburbs). A trophy will tyc presented to tho senior cadet company selling most tickets. Inquiries were received from Christchurch, Marlborough, and Nelson for copies of the programme of the next Wellington Rifle meeting, which looks well for tho future of the association.
