FARMERS CONFER
ACCIDENT INSURANCE AND IMMIGRATION? PEESS ASSOCIATION.
TIMARU, July 21,
The executive of the South Canterbury Farmers' Union yesterday discussed the accident insurance of farm employees, the present arrangements being considered unsatisfactory. Delegates to the New Zealand conference were instructed to support the proposal for the State to make suitable provision, also to bring up the undesirablene-c"; of the present law requiring immigrants to -possess a certain amount of ready money men JEIO, man with family .£ls), as this must prevent many suitable men from owning.
The executive is maturing a plan to bring out domestic servants. North Canterbury is to be asked to complete arrangements that are being made for a meeting of farmers on August 24th to confer with General Godley as to the most suitable time for camps, as affecting farm industries.
