GREAT EARTHQUAKE
MEXICAN CITY RUINED TWENTY-THREE SHOCKS: NO LIVES LOST.

(Received July 22, 0.25 a-m.) MEXICO CITY, July 21. Severe earthquakes have occurred at Guadalajara, a city of over. 100,000 people, 275 miles north-west of the capital. Twenty-three shocks were recorded, and the whole city is reported to be in ruins. No lives are known to have been lost. '
Guadalajara was very badly damaged by an earthquake in 1818, which' greatly impaired the beauty of the magnificent cathedral, dating from the days of the Spanish conquest.
