Miss E. Carroll (Wellington) is visiting her sister, Mrs Ogilvie (Napier).

Mrs Pierce Preeth, Hphson street, is visiting friends in Napier.

Mr and Mrs Henry CottereU, with their family, are among the Rotorua’s passengers en route for England. Mr and Mrs Welch and Mrs Harding ?bansdowne, Masterton) are staying at he Occidnotal.

Mr Turner, Mayor of Suva, and Mrs Turner are leaving Wellington to-mor-row by the Rotorua.

Mrs Owen McArdlo and Miss G. McArdle, of Wellington, are passengers by the Rotorua to-day on a trip to the Old Country.

Mrs Leslie Reynolds (the Terrace), with her son and daughter, leave by the Rotorua en route for England, where they will spend some months visiting relatives and travelling in England and Scotland, ' Mrs and Miss Philcox and Mrs Williams, of Auckland, who came to Wellington for the purpose of seeing Miss Queree off by the Rotorua, are staying at the Hotel Windsor.

Mr and Mrs G. L. Sutherland, of Tomoana, are sailing for Condon to-day by the Rotorua. Mr J. and Mrs EesrrlerWalker (Danuevirke) and Miss B. Harding (Napier) are passengers by the same steamer.

Hiss White (Dunedin) and Mrs Tr?gothen (Cornwall) have successfully completed an enjoyable walking tour among the southern lakes. They had perfect weather, and walked, from Manapouri to Te Anau and from there on to Lake Wakatipu. The annual conference of the W.C.T.U, takes place next week at Dunedin. Delegates from the Wellington branch will be Mesdomes Bates, Houlder, Meal, and Keene. Mrs Grifietn will represent the Wellington Central Union. Mrs N. Nathan (Thomdon) save a pleasant afternoon tea yesterday for Mrs Palmer and Miss Weber (Melbourne). Among those present were Mesdames Henry, Pairbairn, Macpherson, and P. Nathan, Misses Cohen, Paterson, Henry, Hall, Sdddells, and tho Mieses .Nathan.

Miss Bessie Webster, of the China Inland ’'Mission;' sister ' of "Mir. ' A.' ' T. Webster, of the Bank of Australasia, will arrive in Wellington from south this morning, for a stay of. two or three weeks, during which time she will address several meetings. I

Mr and Mrs James Holmes, Trio are shortly relinquishing the Teramea homestead; to one of their sons,, gave a large garden party as a farewell to their neighbours far and near. 'A very large number of invitations were sent out. and charming souvenir gifts were provided for all the guests.

A meeting of the Convalescent Homo committee was held at Miss Coates’s yesterday. Present Mesdames Newman (in 'the. chair). West Knowles, A- Martin, .A, Pearoe, Litchfield, Miss Coates, Mrs Barron (treasurer), and D. Nathan, (secretary). The matron reported that sax patients were admitted aha eleven discharged during the month. Gifts were acknowledged , with thanks from Mesdames Martin, Kotheram, Morris, and Price.

Bennett and Ralph; flowers and fruit, Mrs Kelly and Miss Barnes; sweets, the Misses Fossette (2). A graphophene afforded much pleasure during the afternoon in . the grounds. A concert was . effectively organised indoors, and assistance m several directions was rendered by Kilbimie Boy Scouts. Mr Kersley, president of the association, thanked Mr and Mrs Campbell for the use of their garden, bouse, and grounds, and for the sympathy which orompted their action.

- Tho W.C.T.Tj. garden party was held yesterday afternoon in the pleasant Sounds surrounding the residence of r and. Mrs Keene. Island Bay. No doubt tho sultry afternoon, with its threatening of rain, deterred a number of people from mating the long tram .trip from town; crowded trams on such 'a day are not on ideal means of locomotion. Onoe at Island Bay, 'however, tho walk through the avenue of sombre pines, and tho view from the grounds above, over the whole of Island Bay and out to sea, was most enjoyable. The function .was in the nature of a .pleasant farewell to Mesdames Wright and Cuming, who are leaving next month for England. There was only one stall, fancy-work, at which Miss Bosall officiated, and afternoon tea was served in the garden. Presentations in ' recognition of their earnest work were made to Mesdames Wright and Cuming. A pleasing souvenir was also presented to Mr Kichard Keene by Mrs Boxoll, on behalf of tho union, in' appreciation of his kindness in placing his' house and grounds at its disposal.

An. afternoon tea was given by Mrs Hamilton at Karori yesterday for Mrs Tompsett, who is shortly leaving for England. Croquet, bridge, and a Shakespearian competition were much enjoyed. The winner of the competition was Mrs Miller, who received a beautifully bound book. The hall and tho dining-room, where tea was served, were decorated with yellow flowers, and the card-room* and drawing-room with sweet peas and roses.'
