THEFT.

Joseph Johnston admitted having stolen 4s Id from a Chinaman and was fined 40s, or fourteen days’ imprisonment. , , , , ... John Samuel Taylor pleaded guilty to having stolen a pair of sleeve links valued- at 3Cs, the properly ot William Burton. As this was his first offence of theft and he had been in custody tome days he was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. A DAMAGED DOOR.

Frank Jones denied having damaged a door, valued at 10s, tho property of Horace' Joyes. Evidence was given by John Ooiulon that it, was he who damaged the door. Jones was discharged and Condon was convicted and fined 20s, and ordered to pay tho amount of the damage, in default seven days’ imprisonment. VAGRANCY ALLEGED.

Annie McGrath admitted drunkenness, but denied being a rogue and vagabond. After evidence had been given by Constables Doyle and McKelvie, accused was remanded till to-day in order that she might have an opportunity of calling evidence. CHARGE WITHDRAWN.

A charge against John Milne Wakefield of having absconded when admitted to bail on a charge of perjury was withdrawn. on the application of Chief-Detcc-tivc Broberg. INDECENCY.

For indecency Thomas Morrison _ was fined £4, or twenty-one days’ imprisonment. Alfred Nelson was charged with having, on February 26th, committed an indecent act with intent to insult a female. After evidence for the prosecution had been heard accused, who pleaded guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
